| Yamanaka lacquer craft
My town is very famous for Yamanaka lacquer craft.
Yamanaka lacquer craft has started from Tensho period (1570-1592).
It has a history of 450 years.
One of the main feature is a technique of wheel.
It takes really long time to master all process. About 7 years for each wooden base, base, coating, and maki-e process.
About 18 processes are needed to make one small bowl.(Photo No.1.2.3.4)
There have been a variety of table ware (bowls, plates, and trays) and tea things with delicate Maki-e technique. (Photo No.5.6)
