"Katori-Senko" Mosquito-Repellent Incense

  "Katori-Senko" Mosquito-Repellent Incense

In the previous topic, we introduced fireworks as one of the seasonal traditions. Mosquito-repellent incense called "Katori-Senko" is also a summer feature. It's shape is convoluted for burning it many hours in the adorable pig-shaped ashtray. Spray repellent is getting popular these days. However the distinctive shape and aroma make me think summer is coming and arouse a religious emotion.

Basically incense is burned at the Buddhist altar and grave. Recently, there are various types of incense sticks, such as floral fragrance and scent of perfume. In addtion, new usages, deodorant and healing goods, are now increasing.
