Kiku(chrysanthemum) is one of most popular flower among Japanese.
So many designs of mum have been developed for Kimono and Obi---
Manju-Giku(round mum), Ran-Giku(spider mum), Mujina-Giku(mum petal looks like animal's fur)...
The angles from the top, the side(called Yoko-Giku) and even the back(Ura-Giku)...
Also mum is often seen with Kiri(paulownia), Karakusa (arabesque) and water.

It is supposed to be auspicious motif, you can wear these mum design all year round.
But needless to say, autumun is the best season for mum, it's blooming!
